You’ve probably noticed it yourself. The RAM stick you bought last summer would likely cost significantly more if you bought it today. The same trend has affected the hosting industry, where rising costs for memory, storage, energy, and software licensing have steadily increased the cost of delivering reliable hosting. Over the past five years, we’ve absorbed rising infrastructure costs while continuing to maintain the performance, reliability, and support you expect from UltaHost.
If your renewal invoice looks different than it used to, there’s a simple reason why. The cost of the infrastructure behind reliable hosting has changed, and after absorbing those increases for years, we’ve reached a point where a pricing update is necessary.
Want to lock in today’s pricing?
Renew or upgrade your hosting plan before August 1st, 2026 to avoid the upcoming price increase and keep any eligible discounts.
Starting August 1st, 2026, pricing updates apply across our entire hosting portfolio. You can find your specific plan and new rate in the tables below.
Hosting Gaming plans will follow with a separate pricing update on August 15th, 2026.
We believe the best approach is to explain exactly what’s changing, why it’s happening, and what it means for you, so you have the full picture before your next renewal.
Key Takeaways
- Hosting infrastructure has become significantly more expensive, driven by rising hardware, energy, and software costs.
- We’ve absorbed much of the industry’s rising infrastructure costs over the past five years before making our first pricing adjustment.
- Starting August 1st, 2026, pricing will be updated across our hosting portfolio. Hosting Gaming plans will be updated separately on August 15th, 2026.
- Your current price won’t change until your subscription renews, and all existing discounts and promotions will remain in effect.
- Even with this adjustment, we’re continuing to absorb a significant portion of the industry’s rising infrastructure costs rather than passing them on in full.
- We believe pricing changes should come with clear communication, which is why we’re explaining what’s changing, why it’s happening, and what it means for you.
Why Are Hosting Prices Increasing
Servers are built from three things: memory, storage, and processing hardware, and all three got more expensive over the past year, mostly because AI infrastructure buildouts are eating the global supply of the exact same components hosting companies buy.
Memory and Storage Costs
Memory got hit hardest with server-grade DDR5 jumping close to 300% in late 2025 compared to the year before. TrendForce, one of the more reliable analyst firms tracking this, is projecting another 55 to 60% jump in DRAM contract prices for the first quarter of 2026, with NAND flash rising another 33 to 38% on top of that. Industry-wide inventory had shrunk to two or three weeks’ worth of supply by late 2025, and the cost basis for building a server keeps climbing across the board.
Storage tells a similar story, with client SSD prices expected to rise another 40% in early 2026 as cloud giants buying at enormous scale crowd out smaller buyers. Server vendor spending is up 30.7% year over year, almost entirely driven by AI and GPU demand, and hardware manufacturers have raised system prices 15 to 20% this year citing what they’re calling an unprecedented memory shortage.
Energy and Software Licensing
Energy adds another layer: residential electricity costs climbed about 13% in 2025, and data centers don’t sip power; they gulp it. Software licensing rounds things out, with service and product providers raising support fees and subscription tiers anywhere from 5 to 10% this year. Every host running licensed control panels or virtualization software absorbs some version of this.
What’s Driving Higher Infrastructure Costs
| Cost Driver | What Changed | Impact on Providers |
|---|---|---|
| RAM (DRAM) | Server-grade DDR5 jumped nearly 300%, with 55-60% more forecast for early 2026. | Raises the cost of every new server build and every hardware refresh cycle. |
| SSD / Storage | Client SSD prices are set to rise 40% in early 2026, roughly doubling since early 2025. | Hits storage-heavy hosting plans hardest, especially VPS and dedicated servers. |
| Server Hardware | Server vendor spending rose 30.7% year over year, with system prices up 15 to 20%. | Raises the baseline cost of building and maintaining every layer of infrastructure. |
| Energy | Electricity costs climbed roughly 13% in 2025, adding steady pressure on data centers. | Adds a steady, recurring cost to the daily operation of every data center. |
| Software Licensing | Providers are raising licensing and support fees 5 to 10% depending on the product. | Increases backend costs tied to control panels and virtualization tools used. |
None of these numbers come from us trying to justify anything after the fact. They reflect well-documented industry trends reported by Gartner, IDC, TrendForce, and hardware vendors.
Why Is UltaHost Updating Prices Now?
Hardware vendors have raised server prices four times over the past year, while our pricing has changed only once in the last five years. In other words, that’s not a gap you can close by simply hoping the next quarter is cheaper. And realistically, the alternative to raising prices honestly is quietly cutting corners somewhere customers would eventually notice: thinner support, slower hardware refreshes, less headroom on infrastructure. Instead, we’d rather tell you what’s happening.
Our leadership put it this way:
“Due to the global increase in hardware costs, especially memory and storage components, we are making a small adjustment to our service pricing.
This is our first pricing adjustment in five years. Even now, we’re applying only modest increases across our hosting portfolio while continuing to absorb the majority of the industry’s rising costs ourselves.
Our commitment remains the same: high-performance servers, enterprise-grade hardware, reliable network capacity, and the level of service our customers expect from us. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for being with UltaHost.”
For context on how modest that actually is: several competitors adjusted pricing by 30% or more, and some of them did so well over a year ago. Compared to much of the industry, we deliberately delayed this adjustment, and even now, we’re still not passing along anywhere near the full cost increase we’ve absorbed.
What’s Changing?
Starting August 1st, 2026, pricing updates apply across our hosting portfolio, and Hosting Gaming plans will increase on August 15, 2026. Hosting plans increase between 15% and 25%, depending on the plan.

Your existing discounts and promotions carry forward; better yet, plenty of customers are still saving 40% or more off list. On top of that, nothing shifts mid-cycle; the new rate only applies once your current term ends and your subscription renews. What’s more, support quality, infrastructure, uptime commitments, none of that moves.
In short, the service stays the same; we’re just updating the prices (a bit, if we may add).

How Does UltaHost Compare?
We’re not the only ones updating prices; most competitors in the space have already raised theirs by over 30%, some far more, citing the same hardware and component shortages we’ve described here. Set against those numbers, our price increases, ranging from 15% to 25% depending on the plan, remain on the smaller end of the industry trend.

Have Questions About Your Renewal?
If anything about your pricing or renewal doesn’t look right, our Sales team can walk you through it.
When pricing changes, we think it’s important to explain why. That’s why we’re sharing what’s driving this update, how it affects our services, and what we’re doing to continue providing the performance and support you expect from UltaHost.
What Does This Mean for Customers?
Your current plan holds its current price until your subscription renews, full stop. Meanwhile, existing discounts carry over exactly as they are, and once your term ends and you renew, the new pricing applies from that point forward. If you’re weighing us against another host right now, though, ask about their renewal pricing specifically, not their sign-up rate. That’s usually where the real difference lives (not on the landing page).
Check your renewal date. See what the new pricing looks like for your plan. Reach out to Sales if anything here doesn’t match what you’re seeing on your account. That’s what we’re here for.
A Few Questions We Expect to Hear a Lot
Why is UltaHost raising prices at all?
Hardware costs, mainly memory and storage, have climbed sharply industry-wide since 2025. We’re passing along a portion of that while covering most of it ourselves.
Why are hosting plans increasing between 15% and 25%?
The increase depends on the plan. Hardware-heavy plans, like Dedicated Servers, sit at the higher end since components like DRAM and SSDs saw the steepest cost jumps. Entry-level plans can also show a higher percentage even with a small dollar change, since a modest increase is a bigger share of a lower price. We’ve kept most increases toward the lower end of that range wherever possible.
Why are Dedicated Servers going up more than other plans?
Dedicated Servers carry full memory and storage allocations per customer, not shared ones. That puts them more directly in the path of those cost increases.
Does my current plan change right away?
No, your plan holds until your account renews.
Do I lose my discount?
No, active discounts and promotions stay exactly as they are.
What happens to my price when I renew?
Your subscription renews at the new pricing once your current term ends, but your discounts still apply. Sales can give you specifics, or check our Knowledge Base for renewal and billing guides.
