How to change my MX records for Google Apps?

If you would like to use Google Apps with your main domain there are a couple of things that you should do. First you have to setup a Google Account from here:

https://www.google.com/work/apps/business/

Then you will need to change the MX records for the domain you want to be served from Google Apps. You can do that from your cPanel -> MX Entry. From the ‘MX Entry‘ menu you should choose the domain for which you want to change the MX records.

At the domain menu set the ‘Email Routing‘ to ‘Remote Mail Exchanger‘ and click on the ‘Change‘ button.

Once you have changed the email routing you have to set the MX records to point to the Google Apps server. You have to add the following MX records with their corresponding priority:

Priority: 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

Priority: 5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

Priority: 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

Priority: 10 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM

Priority: 10 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM

The above instructions are with full compliance with the official Google Apps instructions and have been adapted to work with cPanel. Note that it might take up to 24 hours until the changes propagate and take effect. Then your mail services will be handled by Google Mail Apps.

If you experience difficulties setting the MX records for your domain you can always open a new ticket from your Client Area to our Support Department with a request to change the MX records for your domain in order to point them to the Google Apps.
