Dedicated Server

Using this hosting type you can manage the whole server without depending on other clients. You can use all server capabilities according to your needs.

It can be compared with a house, which has a garage and outdoor territory, which belongs to one person without sharing with neighbors.

The  admin of the dedicated server gets full access to the software and hardware. It  means that you will control the operating system and file system, and even you will be able to purchase additional hardware if necessary.

This type of hosting is suitable for a game server, social network, banking site, a large online store or application that requires a lot of resources.

Shared Hosting

This is a type of hosting, in which is divided into many parts which could be rented separately. Several hundred users can simultaneously locate their sites on one server.

Shared hosting could be compared with an apartment building. The residents have common heating and water supply and parking. But some have more living space, while others have less.

All clients use one server resource. So, if someone uses too much from it, the sites of other clients will be affected. To prevent this, hosting providers impose restriction which can limit RAM or speed.

It does not mean that shared hosting can not satisfy your needs, moreover it the best solution for small projects . Most sites do not need the resources of the whole server, so it is divided into parts.

This type of hosting is suitable for a business card site, a promotion page, a portfolio, a blog or a small online store.

This is kind of server in which is divided into several independent parts and rented separately. There can be several dozens of virtual servers on one physical server.

A virtual server can be compared with complex of private houses. Such house has neighbors, but each family has a separate entrance and its own front garden.

The virtual server has no restrictions, as at a virtual hosting. It can be freely customized for your project. You can even install your software.

As in the case of virtual hosting, several virtual servers are located on the same physical server. Each of them is isolated from each other. If one virtual server consumes a lot of resources, it will not affect other users.

Such type of hosting is suitable for an online store, a forum with a large number of visitors, an application or a corporate site where customers and employees have accounts or personal mail.

Certificates SSL

Imagine the situation: you pay for the  order online and you are asked to enter a bank card number. The browser sends this information to the server, where a special program verifies the authenticity of the card and sends a purchase receipt. Then the bank takes money from the card. In addition to card data, the browser can transmit passwords, email addresses, and other personal information.

Usually the browser transmits all the information openly . If fraudsters find themselves in the transmission path, they will be able to intercept information and use it for personal purposes. In most of cases you will not notice that unless they will stole your money or change password. To avoid such situations, you need an SSL certificate. On a site with an SSL certificate, the browser uses a secure connection.

An SSL certificate is a protection means of the personal information of users. If the site has an SSL certificate, you will see the green lock and the HTTPS protocol in the address bar of the browser. This means that on this site it is safe to enter your password or bank card number.

Domain Names

Domain names was created to simplify searching the site on the Internet. Previously, it was necessary to memorize the digital address of the site to open it in a browser. It’s called IP address which consists from combination of four numbers separated by dots. The IP address points to the server where the site is located, and it looks like this:

It possible to memorize a couple of such numbers , but when such amount is growing you will be confused. It’s no matter for computer , but people prefer to come up with text names.

By the same logic, we do not memorize phone numbers, but store them in the phone book. And at the right time it remains only to find the name in the phone, and the phone itself will understand which number to call.

What is the domain different from hosting?

Hosting is the place where your site files are stored. And the domain is the name of the site ( for people to find it). To make your site appear on the Internet you need both of them.

Imagine that a site is a collection of pictures. Then hosting is the house where the pictures are located, and the domain is the address where this house can be found.

What does a domain name consist of?

Any domain consists of levels. Domain levels are the parts which separated by points. They are used to systematize the work of domain names.

First level is registration authority which stores information about the second level. Second and subsequent levels consist information of the company where you bought domain. This hierarchy helps the browser to quickly find the server and open the site.

By default, each domain consists of two levels, but there may be more - three, four, five, etc. Levels are considered to be right to left.
