Open your Mac VPS console from the vCenter management address supplied for your service. Select the virtual machine, open Summary and choose Launch Web Console. You can then sign in at the macOS login window.

This guide covers the vCenter/vSphere browser console used with UltaHost Mac VPS hosting. If you have no console address or cannot find your VM, ask support for your service’s connection details.

2. Web consoleYour Mac’s remote display
3. macOS loginYour Mac user account

When to Use the macOS Web Console

The web console shows the Mac’s login prompt, startup progress or errors when remote desktop fails. It connects through the virtualization platform without requiring macOS Screen Sharing.

The console needs a working management connection and a responsive VM. Report a frozen display to support before resetting it.

Before You Connect

  • Find the management URL and console credentials supplied for the service.
  • Have the VM name or service reference available.
  • Find the macOS user credentials. You will need these after opening the console.
  • Use an up-to-date desktop browser with a keyboard and mouse.

There are two sign-in screens. Your console account opens the management portal; your Mac account opens macOS. A billing login or Apple Account is not a substitute for either.

Step 1: Open Your Assigned Management Portal

Follow the HTTPS management link in your service details. Check the hostname, sign in with the console account and complete any additional authentication requested.

Don’t have the link? Open a support ticket, identify your Mac VPS and ask for its browser-console address and login details. The ticket page may ask you to sign in to the Client Area.

Stop at a browser certificate warning. Have support check the address and certificate before entering credentials.

Step 2: Select Your macOS Virtual Machine

Locate the VM in the vSphere inventory. Match its name to your service details, then open Summary. Check that it is powered on. If it is unexpectedly off, check for maintenance or contact support before starting it.

If your VM is missing, ask support to check the account and inventory. Give support the VM name and the account you used; don’t reinstall the server to try to make it appear.

Step 3: Launch the Web Console

  1. Click Launch Web Console on the Summary tab.
  2. If asked which console to use, choose Web Console.
  3. Allow the trusted management site to open a new window if your browser blocks it.
  4. Click inside the remote display to send keyboard input to the Mac.

Be careful with the similar button names. Launch Remote Console opens the separate VMware Remote Console application (VMRC). For this browser-based connection, use Web Console. Both options appear in Broadcom’s vCenter instructions.

Step 4: Sign In to macOS

Select the Mac user and enter that account’s password. On a login window with name and password fields, enter the macOS account name supplied for the server.

If the password fails, check Caps Lock and the input-language menu before trying again. Symbols can be entered differently under another keyboard layout. Apple also points out that this is the Mac login password, not the Apple Account password.

Open Finder to check the controls. For the system version, choose Apple menu > About This Mac. The console’s Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete control is not needed for a macOS login.

If you reach disk unlock, recovery or activation instead, record the exact prompt and ask support how to proceed.

Using the Keyboard, Mouse and Display

Click the remote display if typing goes to the browser. Use application menus for shortcuts intercepted by your own computer.

For a keyboard-layout check, open a blank TextEdit document and type a few harmless characters. Never test a password in it. If the symbols differ, check the input source on both computers.

Copy and paste or drag-and-drop may not work in the viewer. Type short values, or use a file-transfer method already set up for the server. Leave hypervisor isolation settings alone. For a clipped display, restore normal browser zoom and resize the window; use the viewer’s full-screen option if available.

No mouse or keyboard responseViewer focus and whether the display updatesClick the display, reopen the viewer, then try another current browser.

Try a private window or another browser to check for a local browser issue. A working portal does not prove the console connection is available: Broadcom documents network restrictions that leave the viewer loading. Tell support which part fails. Disabling the macOS firewall is not a general remedy.

Finish Your Session Safely

Save your work. From the remote Mac’s Apple menu, select Lock Screen to keep applications running, or Log Out [user name] to end the user session. Close the viewer and sign out of the portal.

Closing a browser tab leaves the server running and does not log you out of macOS. Don’t use the VM’s reset or power-off controls as a disconnect button.

What to Include in a Support Ticket

Send your service reference, VM name, browser version and the time of the failure, including your time zone. Specify the stage: portal login, opening the viewer or signing in to macOS. Include the exact error and whether another browser or private window worked.

Remove passwords, codes, recovery keys and console-session URLs from error screenshots.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect from Windows or Linux?

Yes. You use a browser on your own computer; it doesn’t need to run macOS.

Do I need to install VMware Remote Console?

No. Choose Web Console for the browser viewer. The separate Launch Remote Console option uses VMRC.

Is the console password the same as my macOS password?

These are separate accounts. Use the credentials supplied for each login screen.

Can I open the console by browsing to my VPS IP?

Use your assigned management URL. The VPS public IP is not necessarily the console address.

Does closing the web console stop my server?

No. Lock or log out of macOS before closing the viewer; the VM continues running.

Should I enable Screen Sharing to use this console?

No. The vSphere console displays the VM through the management platform without macOS Screen Sharing.
