UltaHost Fair Use Policy (FUP)
Fair Use Policy (FUP)
At UltaHost, we are committed to providing a fast, reliable, and secure environment for all customers. To maintain system stability and high-quality service, we expect all users to interact with our platforms and infrastructure in a reasonable, responsible, and compliant manner.
This Fair Use Policy explains what we expect from our customers when using UltaHost’s services — including our Control Panel, API, domain registration tools, DNS services, and hosting infrastructure.
1. General Use of the UltaHost System
1.1 Security Practices
To protect your account and our systems, you are expected to:
- Use individual user accounts for each team member (no shared logins).
- Choose strong, unique passwords and rotate them regularly.
- Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
- Configure IP whitelisting where applicable.
Following these measures helps safeguard both your data and the UltaHost environment.
1.2 Excessive Use of the Control Panel
You may freely use the UltaHost Control Panel; however:
- Do not automate or script actions against the Control Panel UI.
- For repetitive queries or bulk operations, use our API or built-in bulk tools instead of automated browser-based activity.
This ensures system performance remains stable for all users.
2. UltaHost API Usage
When using the UltaHost API, the following is required:
2.1 Security Requirements
- Use secure authentication methods (e.g., hashes, API keys), never plain passwords.
- Whitelist your IP addresses where possible.
2.2 Excessive or Abusive Querying
To prevent system strain:
- If an API command fails, do not repeatedly retry it without fixing the underlying issue.
- Investigate the returned error message, correct the problem, and retry only when appropriate.
Abusive or repeated failed calls may trigger automated rate-limit blocks.
2.3 Bulk Operations
Our API supports bulk actions, but:
- If you plan to submit 10,000+ operations in a single day (registrations, updates, DNS changes, etc.), please notify us in advance.
This helps us advise you on registry-specific limitations and ensures stable performance.
3. Domain Management Expectations
UltaHost is a retail registrar and must comply with ICANN and Registry policies. Therefore, we expect:
3.1 Accurate Contact Data
- All domain registration data must be correct, complete, and current.
- Replacing customer data with your own (proxying / hiding without a valid service) is discouraged and may violate registry or ICANN rules.
Incorrect data may result in suspension or revocation by the registry.
3.2 Availability Checks
- Check domain availability before submitting a registration request to avoid unnecessary errors or repeated attempts.
3.3 Domain Transfers
- Ensure the domain owner / end user is aware of any incoming or outgoing transfer request.
- This prevents rejections, delays, and disputes.
3.4 Drop-Catching Restrictions
UltaHost systems are not intended for large-scale drop-catching.
- Occasional availability checks for a single domain are acceptable.
- For competitive or high-volume drop-catching, use specialised providers.
Excessive real-time polling may result in rate-limiting or temporary blocking.
3.5 Compliance with Registry Policies
- Know and follow the rules for each TLD you manage.
- Registry policies vary, and violations (e.g., incorrect WHOIS data, prohibited use) can lead to domain suspension.
3.6 Abuse Response
If a complaint or abuse report is received for a domain under your account:
- Respond promptly.
- Address the issue in accordance with registry and ICANN requirements.
Failure to act may result in administrative action on the domain.
4. DNS Service Usage
UltaHost provides DNS hosting as a convenience for our customers.
4.1 Free DNS Service
- UltaHost DNS services are free as part of our hosting and domain platform and provided on a best-effort basis.
- Designed primarily for domains registered with UltaHost.
4.2 High Load or Abuse
To maintain DNS stability:
- UltaHost may quarantine or temporarily disable DNS zones that generate excessive traffic, degrade system performance, or are targeted by attacks (e.g., DDoS).
5. Breach of the Fair Use Policy
We understand mistakes can happen. UltaHost will not immediately terminate accounts for isolated violations. However:
- Continuous or severe breaches may lead to temporary suspension, additional fees, or—when necessary—termination of services in accordance with our Terms of Service.
